Writing Courses

The Writing Tutor offers a wide variety of enrichment and remediation courses to meet the needs of a wide variety of students. Courses are designed to help a student progress from his or her current ability level  by teaching and reinforcing skills that the student has not yet been able to perform consistently. Students at each level are taught how to edit their own work so that they can correct errors before completing a final draft. Courses range in content from developing basic sentence structure to refining the writing skills required of Advanced Placement (AP) English students. Courses are taught online and have also been adapted for independent study. The Writing Tutor enrichment and remediation writing courses reinforce skills that the student has not yet been able to perform consistently. These writing courses teach students to recognize the basic components of sentences, paragraphs, and/or essays (depending on the ability level) to help them identify and avoid common mistakes in their own writing. Students at each level learn how to edit their own work so that they can correct errors before completing a final draft. Each of the writing courses builds upon the skills taught in the previous course in order to provide a smooth transition from ability level to ability level. Note: Writing courses are now only available as independent study.
