The Writing Tutor provides the following resources to help students become better writers and to earn better grades. Choose from homework help, quick reference grammar guides & literature guides, writing contests, writing courses, online book club, suggested reading lists, searchable reference tools, research tools, and links to other writing resources.

Homework Help Forum

The Homework Help Bulletin Board offers students an interactive means of obtaining help with writing assignments and English or language arts homework. Keep in mind that English is very subjective (there is often more than one answer). The Writing Tutor will delete any responses that are blatantly incorrect and will, on occasion, qualify responses that are "ify." WARNING: Don't believe everything that you see in print. Use other sources to confirm what you read!! Don't forget to use your teacher, your text book (or another reference book), The Writing Tutor Quick Reference Guides, etc. as resources!!

Quick Reference Grammar Guides & Literature Guides

These reference guides provide answers to common questions about writing and English or language arts classes.

The Young Authors Writing Contest

The Writing Tutor Young Authors Writing Contest is open to students in grades 5 through 12. Manuscripts will be judged in four categories: grades 5 & 6, grades 7 & 8, grades 9 & 10, and grades 11 & 12. Three winners will be selected from each age group. The winning entries from each writing contest will be published online and will be archived as examples of quality student writing to which other young writers may refer.

The Writing Tutor Writing Courses

The Writing Tutor courses provide remediation and/or enrichment for students who have fallen behind or who are ahead of the class.

Online Book Club

The Readers’ Corner Book Club presents readers with the opportunity to share their own reading experiences and to see what other people are reading.

Suggested Reading Lists

Because reading is such an important part of developing good writing skills, The Writing Tutor has developed a section dedicated to books. We provide several different suggested reading lists in the following categories: pleasure & enrichment reading lists, reference & self-help reading lists, and A.P. English reading lists.

Searchable Reference Tools

Research Tools        NEW!!

The Writing Tutor currently offers feeds from three sections of The New York Times and two sections of USA Today as well as feeds from Education Today and the Plagiarism Resource Site. Students can gather current information about national and world news, as well as news relating to science and the arts.
